Our Mission
At Heard With Love, our mission is to empower individuals through community support and resources. We believe that everyone deserves a voice and the chance to be heard, fostering connections and understanding.
Why I'm doing this
I was born deaf in one ear and never learned American Sign Language—mostly because I was told to just “man up and hear.” So that’s what I tried to do. I pushed through, read lips like a pro, and got really good at pretending everything was fine.
Then in April 2020, life turned up the volume on the challenge—I suddenly lost hearing in my other ear due to a severe ear infection. Just like that, silence. After months of specialist visits and second opinions, I got the news I’d dreaded: my hearing was gone for good. It took over a year (and a lot of pride-swallowing) before I even asked for help. I looked into bone-conducting hearing aids, but at the time, nothing worked.
In 2024, I finally had surgery to get the bone-conducting device implanted. I went in with so much hope, but instead of relief, I was met with unbearable volume and serious discomfort. It wasn’t the fix I imagined.
But here’s the twist—I didn’t let that be the end of the story. Those hard moments lit a fire in me. I realized I wasn’t alone—there are so many people out there like me: deaf or hard of hearing, unfamiliar with ASL, and trying to navigate a world that’s not built with them in mind. So I decided to do something about it.
My mission is simple: build tools that help people hear better and communicate more easily—without needing to rely on lip-reading or feel left out. Everyone deserves access to tech that empowers them.
And to my team and future teammates: this company isn’t about hierarchy—it’s about heart. As the founder, I’ll never pay myself more than anyone else. If we succeed, we rise together. Let’s build something bold, meaningful, and maybe even have a little fun while we’re at it.
